What happened
Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants because the Landlords require possession of the rental unit for the purpose of residential occupation. The Landlords' 24-year-old daughter needs her own space.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective January 31, 2021. The Tenants must vacate the unit by this date. If the unit is not vacated, the Landlords may file the order with the Court Enforcement Office for enforcement starting February 1, 2021. The Landlords held a $1,050 rent deposit and owe interest on this deposit to the Tenants for the period from 2014-2020. The Landlords also paid the Tenants one month's rent as compensation.
