What happened
Tenants applied for an order determining that Landlords failed to meet their maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 or failed to comply with health, safety, housing or maintenance standards. The Tenants claimed the Landlords failed to provide snow removal and lawn maintenance.
The ruling
The Landlords failed to meet their obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 to maintain the rental unit in a good state of repair and comply with housing and maintenance standards. The Tenants are entitled to be reimbursed $1,243 for their reasonable out-of-pocket expenses for snow removal, lawn maintenance, and salt, as well as $48 for the cost of filing the application. The total amount of $1,291 owed by the Landlords must be paid to the Tenants by February 18, 2022, after which interest will accrue.
