What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenants to pay the rent they owed. The Tenants had vacated the rental unit on August 19, 2020, prior to the hearing date.

The ruling

The Tenants shall pay the Landlord $11,723.09, which represents the arrears of rent ($13,200.00) and costs ($190.00) outstanding for the period ending August 31, 2020, less the last month's rent deposit ($1,650.00) and the interest owing to the Tenants on the deposit ($16.91). If the Tenants do not pay the full amount owing by September 19, 2020, they will start to owe simple interest calculated from September 20, 2020 at 2.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
