What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant failed to pay rent from January 1, 2021 to January 31, 2022. The Landlord served a Notice of Termination effective October 1, 2021. The Tenant did not attend the hearing.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective February 20, 2022, unless the Tenant voids the order by paying $12,811.24 on or before that date. The Tenant is ordered to pay $11,055.88 in rent arrears and compensation, plus $186.00 for the application fee. Daily compensation of $29.95 is owed for each day of occupation starting February 10, 2022. If the Tenant does not vacate by February 20, 2022, the Landlord may file for eviction enforcement.
