What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to abandonment of the rental unit. The Tenant had not paid rent since July 2021 and the rental unit was found to be in a state of abandonment.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated as the Tenant has abandoned the rental unit. The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $186 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by February 28, 2022, they will start to owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
