What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. The Tenant had vacated the rental unit on August 15, 2020 but retained the keys and had belongings at the unit, so was still considered in possession. The Tenant had filed her own application with the Board regarding a bedbug issue, which had not been heard yet.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective June 13, 2021. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $22,405.45 plus $69.04 per day starting June 3, 2021 until the Tenant vacates. If the Tenant pays $23,286 by June 13, 2021, the eviction order will be void and the tenancy will continue. If the Tenant does not pay by June 13, 2021, the Landlord may file the order with the Sheriff for enforcement.
