What happened

Tenant alleges that the Landlord served an N12 Notice of Termination in bad faith, claiming they required possession of the rental unit for a child of the Landlord. The Tenant vacated the unit on June 30, 2019 and later discovered the unit was advertised for rent.

The ruling

The Landlord is ordered to pay the Tenant $1,700 for the last month's rent deposit, $817.12 for moving costs, and $1,800 for the rent differential for 12 months, for a total of $4,367.12. The Landlord must pay the full amount by November 15, 2021, or will owe interest.
