What happened

Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. Landlords also claimed NSF cheque charges, related administration charges, and compensation for each day the Tenant remained in the unit after the termination date. Landlords also claimed they intend to demolish the rental unit.

The ruling

The tenancy between the Landlords and the Tenant is terminated. The Tenant moved out of the rental unit on December 31, 2019. The Tenant shall pay the Landlords $22,288.30, which represents the amount of rent owing and compensation up to December 31, 2019 and the total charges related to NSF cheques tendered to the Landlords by or on behalf of the Tenant. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount owing by November 20, 2020, the Tenant will start to owe simple interest calculated at 3.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
