What happened
Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to non-payment of rent and for substantial interference and illegal acts. The Tenants had vacated the rental unit prior to the hearing date.
The ruling
The tenancy between the Landlords and the Tenants is terminated as of March 5, 2020, the date the Tenants gave vacant possession of the rental unit to the Landlord. The Tenants shall pay the Landlords $6,950.31, which represents the amount of rent owing and compensation up to March 5, 2020 and the total charges related to four NSF cheques, less the rent deposit and interest the Landlords owe on the rent deposit. The Tenants shall also pay the Landlords $190.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount owing by April 2, 2021, they will start to owe simple interest at 2.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
