What happened
Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to non-payment of rent. The Tenants failed to pay rent from September 1, 2021, to January 31, 2022. The Landlords served a Notice of Termination effective September 17, 2021. The Tenants did not attend the hearing despite being properly served with notice.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective January 28, 2022, unless the Tenants void the order by paying $6,773.40 on or before that date. The Tenants must pay $4,558.31 for rent arrears and compensation up to January 17, 2022, plus $48.21 per day starting January 18, 2022, until they move out. The Tenants must also pay $186.00 for the application filing cost. If the Tenants do not pay or move out by January 28, 2022, the Landlords may file the order with the Sheriff for eviction enforcement.
