What happened

The Landlord served a Notice of Termination effective February 14, 2020, due to rent arrears from September 1, 2019, to January 31, 2020. The Tenant vacated the rental unit on September 1, 2020.

The ruling

The tenancy was terminated effective September 1, 2020. The Tenant is ordered to pay $27,782.52 to the Landlord, which includes rent arrears up to the move-out date, the cost of filing the application, minus the rent deposit and interest on the deposit. If not paid by October 18, 2020, interest will start accruing at 2.00% annually.
