What happened

Landlords applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to non-payment of rent and because the Tenants entered into an agreement to terminate the tenancy. The Tenants did not attend the hearing.

The ruling

The tenancy was terminated effective February 5, 2021, the date the Tenants vacated the rental unit. The Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlords $9,032.12, which includes $8,831.12 in rent arrears and $201 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by March 5, 2021, they will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
