What happened

Landlord filed L1 and L2 applications to terminate tenancy and evict Tenants due to non-payment of rent and persistent late payment. Tenants were not present at the hearing. The Board found that Tenants had not paid full rent from August 1, 2021 to January 31, 2022, and were late in paying rent for 7 out of 7 months from February 2021 to August 31, 2021.

The ruling

The Board ordered the termination of the tenancy effective January 21, 2022, unless Tenants void the order by paying $4,020.93 by that date. If voided, Tenants must pay rent on time for one year. Tenants owe $1,729.17 plus $41.86 per day from January 11, 2022, until they move out, and $201.00 for application costs.
