What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to serious impairment of safety caused by hoarding in the rental unit. The Landlord and Fire Prevention Officer conducted inspections and found the unit to be a serious fire hazard. The Tenant was uncooperative with attempts to assist her in reducing the excessive accumulation of possessions.
The ruling
The tenancy will continue if the Tenant significantly reduces the possessions and contents of the rental unit to render it safe from a fire prevention perspective within 30 days. If the Tenant fails to comply, the Landlord may apply for an order terminating the tenancy and evicting the Tenant.
