What happened
Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenant to pay the rent that the Tenant owes. The Tenant vacated the rental unit without giving the Landlord proper 60 days notice as required by the Act.
The ruling
The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $15,115.97, which includes rent arrears up to July 31, 2022 and the cost of the application, minus the rent deposit and interest owing. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by February 18, 2023, they will start owing interest at 5% annually on the outstanding balance.
