What happened

The ruling

The tenancy was terminated effective September 30, 2020, the date the Tenant vacated the rental unit. The Tenant is ordered to pay $4,504.67 to the Landlord, which includes rent arrears up to the move-out date and compensation, less the rent deposit and interest on the deposit. The Tenant must also pay $186.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by May 1, 2021, they will owe simple interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
