What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenant to pay compensation for the money the Tenant should have paid had the Tenant not misrepresented the Tenant's income or the income of a member of the Tenant's family. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenant remained in the unit after the termination date.

The ruling

The tenancy between the Landlord and the Tenant is terminated, effective July 31, 2020. The Tenant must move out of the rental unit on or before September 10, 2021. The Tenant shall pay to the Landlord $14,571.55, which represents compensation for the use of the unit from August 1, 2020 to August 30, 2021. The Tenant shall also pay to the Landlord $36.89 per day for compensation for the use of the unit from August 31, 2021 to the date the Tenant moves out of the unit. If the Tenant does not pay the Landlord the full amount owing on or before September 10, 2021, the Tenant will start to owe interest at 2.00% annually on the balance outstanding. If the unit is not vacated on or before September 10, 2021, the Landlord may file this order with the Court Enforcement Office (Sheriff) so that the eviction may be enforced.
