What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. The application was filed after a mediated settlement was reached in a previous application (TEL-94020-18), which required the Tenant to pay rent by March 1, 2020, which the Tenant failed to do.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective August 15, 2020. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $1,356 (less any amount paid after the application was filed) for rent arrears up to March 31, 2020 and the previous application fee, plus $23.93 per day for compensation for use of the unit from April 1, 2020 until the Tenant vacates. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by August 15, 2020, interest will accrue at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
