What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to failure to pay rent. The application was filed after the Tenants failed to meet the conditions specified in a previous order issued by the Board on August 31, 2020.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated, and the Tenants must vacate the rental unit by February 16, 2021. The Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlord $3,493.34, which includes rent arrears up to February 5, 2021 and the costs related to the previous application, less the rent deposit and interest owed on the deposit. The Tenants will also owe $32.72 per day for compensation for use of the unit starting February 6, 2021 until they move out. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by February 16, 2021, they will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
