What happened
Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to wilful damage to the premises and serious impairment of safety of any person. Landlords also applied for an order requiring Tenants to compensate for the damage.
The ruling
The tenancy was terminated effective June 30, 2021, the date the Tenants vacated the rental unit. The Tenants are ordered to pay $517 to the Landlords, which includes $331 for the cost of repairing the damage and $186 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by October 1, 2021, they will start to owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
