What happened
Tenant filed T6 application about maintenance issues in the rental unit, including broken oven gasket, non-functioning range hood fan, lack of window coverings, plumbing issue, flickering lights, and washroom door not latching. Tenant also filed T2 application about substantial interference with reasonable enjoyment. Most issues were resolved within weeks, except for cosmetic repairs related to the range hood installation.
The ruling
The Landlord shall pay the Tenant a rent abatement of $375 for the ongoing cosmetic issue with the range hood. The Landlord shall complete the cosmetic repair work by February 28, 2022, or the Tenant can arrange the work and deduct the cost from the rent. The Landlord shall also pay the Tenant $48 for the cost of filing the application.
