What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to persistent late payment of rent. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenant remained in the unit after the termination date.

The ruling

The tenancy between the Landlord and the Tenant is terminated, effective December 31, 2019. The Tenant must move out of the rental unit on or before August 16, 2020. The Landlord is authorized to offset the rent deposit and interest owed to the Tenant against the compensation owed to the Landlord.
