What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to persistent late payment of rent. The Tenants were late in paying rent 10 out of 12 months during the period of August 2020 to September 2021, and the Landlord subsequently served them with a notice of termination.

The ruling

The tenancy was terminated effective October 1, 2021, the date the Tenants vacated the rental unit. The Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlord $218.32, which includes $32.32 for use of the unit on October 1, 2021 and $186.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by November 5, 2021, they will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
