What happened
Landlord applied to vary the percentage rent reduction determined by the City of Toronto under section 132 of the Residential Tenancies Act. The landlord argued that the property tax reduction did not reach 20% of total annual rents and that there was an error in the city's calculation.
The ruling
The Board ordered a rent reduction of 0.56% effective December 31, 2019, varying the percentage determined by the City of Toronto. Any resulting overpayments or underpayments must be settled within 60 days of the order issuance date.
