What happened

Landlord applied for an order determining that the Tenant had vacated the rental unit, terminate the tenancy and evict because the Landlord believes he has abandoned the rental unit. The Landlord also claimed compensation because the Tenant caused damage to the rental unit.

The ruling

The tenancy between the Landlord and the Tenant is terminated effective October 18, 2020. The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $22,112.39 for the damage to the rental unit and $186.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount owing by August 21, 2021, the Tenant will start to owe interest at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
