What happened

Tenant filed T1 and T2 applications against Landlord for illegal charges, harassment, illegal entry, and substantial interference with reasonable enjoyment. Landlord collected illegal damage deposit, failed to pay interest on last month's rent, repeatedly entered property illegally, restricted tenant's mail access and visitors, and engaged in intimidation and threats.

The ruling

The Landlord and Tenant Board ruled in favor of the Tenant, ordering the Landlord to pay $2,119.19 to the Tenant for illegal charges and rent abatement due to various breaches of the Residential Tenancies Act. Additionally, the Landlord was ordered to pay a $1,000 administrative fine to the Board for blatant disregard of the Act.
