What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to their actions that seriously impaired the safety of others in the residential complex. The Tenants left a pot unattended on the stove, causing smoke, and had tampered with the smoke detector in the rental unit.
The ruling
The Tenants are ordered to not tamper with or render inoperable any smoke detectors in the rental unit, and to not leave the stove unattended while in use. If the Tenants fail to comply with these conditions, the Landlord may apply to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants. The Tenants are also ordered to pay the Landlord $186 for the cost of filing the application.
