What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant did not attend the hearing. The Landlord's agent testified that a community service agency, Unison, will pay all of the arrears the Tenant owes. The Landlord's agent requested an order requiring the Tenant to pay only the application filing fee.

The ruling

The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $186.00 for the application filing fee. If the Tenant does not pay by October 7, 2022, interest will start accruing at 3.00% annually from October 8, 2022. The order does not include termination of tenancy or eviction, as the Landlord only requested payment of the filing fee due to a community service agency agreeing to pay the rent arrears.
