What happened

Tenant applied for an order determining that the Landlord failed to meet the Landlord's maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 or failed to comply with health, safety, housing or maintenance standards. The Tenant fell on the driveway due to snow and ice buildup, and the Landlord did not take any action to clear the snow and ice.

The ruling

The Landlord is ordered to pay the Tenant a rent abatement of $226.24 and reimburse the Tenant $45.00 for the application filing fee, for a total of $271.24. If the Landlord does not pay the full amount by September 30, 2020, the Landlord will owe interest on the outstanding balance.
