What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant because the Landlord intends to convert the rental unit to a non-residential use. The complex is currently an emergency women's shelter that also includes rental units, and the Landlord plans to expand the emergency shelter which would involve the utilization of the space currently being used for residential units.
The ruling
The tenancy between the Landlord and the Tenant is terminated as of March 31, 2022. The Tenant must move out of the rental unit on or before March 31, 2022. If the unit is not vacated by that date, the Landlord may file the order with the Court Enforcement Office (Sheriff) so that the eviction may be enforced starting April 1, 2022.
