What happened

Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to undue damage to the rental unit and impairment of safety. The Tenants had vacated the unit prior to the hearing date.

The ruling

The tenancy was terminated effective April 24, 2021, the date the Tenants vacated the rental unit. The Tenants were ordered to pay the Landlord $550 for the cost of replacing the damaged door, $3,077.28 for compensation for use of the unit from February 11, 2021 to April 24, 2021, and $186 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenants did not pay the full amount by October 31, 2021, they would start owing interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
