What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to non-payment of rent. Tenants failed to pay rent from February 1, 2021 to April 30, 2021. Landlord served a Notice of Termination effective April 23, 2021. Tenants did not attend the hearing.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective February 1, 2022, unless Tenants void the order by paying the full amount owing. Tenants must pay $13,950.56 for rent arrears and compensation, plus $201.00 for application filing costs. Daily compensation of $42.74 applies from January 22, 2022, until move-out. Tenants can void the order by paying $15,801.00 by January 31, 2022, or $17,101.00 by February 1, 2022.
