What happened

The Tenant filed a T1 application alleging that the Landlord owes the Tenant interest on the last month's rent deposit and compensation for an N12 notice served on the Tenant. The Landlord served an N12 notice to terminate the tenancy for personal use, and the Tenant vacated the rental unit on June 1, 2022. The ruling

The Landlord is ordered to pay the Tenant $2,143.82, which includes $2,079.32 in compensation for the N12 notice and $64.50 in interest on the last month's rent deposit. The Landlord shall pay the full amount by February 2, 2024, and if not, will owe interest at 7% annually on the outstanding balance.
