What happened
The Landlords filed an application to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to non-payment of rent. During the hearing, which was attended by both parties and their legal representatives, a consent agreement was reached for the Tenants to pay the outstanding arrears and costs.
The ruling
By consent, the Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlords $8,006.00 for rent arrears and costs. This amount is to be paid in installments, starting with $1,750.00 by September 15, 2023, followed by monthly payments of $500.00 until December 20, 2024, and a final payment of $506.00 by January 20, 2025. The Tenants must also pay their ongoing rent in full and on time. The parties agreed that section 78 of the Act does not apply, meaning a default could lead to an expedited eviction.
