What happened

The Landlord filed an application to evict the Tenant for non-payment of rent. The Tenant was properly served with the hearing notice but did not attend. The Landlord's application contained a clerical error regarding the rent amount, which was amended at the hearing. The Tenant had not paid any rent since the application was filed and was reportedly uncontactable.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated unless the Tenant pays $4,986.00 by April 22, 2025. If payment is not made, the Tenant must vacate by that date. If the Tenant fails to pay and the tenancy is terminated, they are ordered to pay the Landlord $3,543.80 for arrears up to the hearing date plus the application fee. The Tenant must also pay daily compensation of $52.60 from April 4, 2025, until they move out.
