What happened

Tenant applied for an order determining that the Landlord entered the rental unit illegally, altered the locking system without providing replacement keys, harassed or interfered with the Tenant, and withheld or interfered with vital services. The Tenant sought to be reinstated into the rental unit and compensation for damaged or disposed property.

The ruling

The Tenant's application is partially granted. The Landlord is ordered to pay the Tenant a rent abatement of $450 for the period of April 13-30, 2023. The Landlord must pay the full amount owing by February 6, 2024, after which interest will accrue.
