What happened

The Landlords applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to significant rent arrears. The Tenants admitted to withholding $14,000.00 in rent for four months, citing safety concerns regarding basement occupants and financial difficulties following a job loss. The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective October 13, 2025, unless the Tenants pay $21,266.00 to void the order. If they do not void the order, they must vacate by the termination date and pay the Landlord $9,495.00 plus daily compensation of $115.07 from August 21, 2025, until they move out. The Landlord is authorized to file with the Sheriff for eviction if the Tenants fail to comply.
