What happened
The Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy due to non-payment of rent. The Tenants had accumulated substantial arrears. At the hearing, one Tenant explained the non-payment was due to her making monthly payments to a third party for an anticipated large financial return, but refused to disclose the payment amounts. The Landlords, despite facing financial strain, agreed to a delayed eviction date.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated unless the Tenant voids the order by paying the full amount owing. The Tenant can pay $11,486.00 by May 31, 2025, or $12,386.00 by June 30, 2025, to continue the tenancy. If the Tenant fails to do so, they must vacate the unit by June 30, 2025, and pay the Landlord $9,546.52, plus daily compensation for any overholding period. The eviction was postponed as a form of relief.
