What happened

The Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to non-payment of rent. The Tenants did not attend the hearing. The Landlord provided evidence of rent arrears and requested a long-term payment plan to allow the Tenants to stay, as they have lived in the unit for nine years and have already started making extra payments towards the arrears.

The ruling

The LTB ordered the Tenants to pay $4,198.00 in arrears and costs according to a schedule. The Tenants must pay $100.00 extra each month from July 2025 until November 2028, with a final payment of $98.00 in December 2028. If the Tenants miss any payment, the Landlord can apply for an eviction order without further notice under Section 78.
