What happened

The Landlord applied for an order requiring the Former Tenant to pay rent arrears and daily compensation owing after vacating the rental unit. Additionally, the Landlord sought reimbursement for unpaid utility costs (water services) that the Former Tenant was responsible for under the tenancy agreement. The Former Tenant contested the utility amounts and claimed unpaid interest on a rent deposit from 2017.

The ruling

The Former Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord a total of $4,483.80 by November 30, 2025. This amount includes $3,032.00 in rent arrears (after accounting for a $600.00 post-filing payment), $1,265.80 for unpaid water utilities, and the $186.00 application filing fee. Interest will accrue at 4% annually if not paid by the deadline.
