What happened
The Landlord filed an application for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to rent arrears. The Tenant attended the hearing and requested relief from eviction. The Landlord also alleged that the Tenant had unlawfully transferred the unit to her parents, but the Board declined to rule on this issue, suggesting a separate application would be required.
The ruling
The Board granted the Tenant relief from eviction. The tenancy is not terminated. The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord the total arrears of $2,908.09 through a structured monthly payment plan lasting 12 months, starting June 15, 2025. The Tenant must also pay her ongoing monthly rent in full and on time. If the Tenant defaults on any payment, the Landlord can apply to the LTB for an eviction order without a further hearing.
