What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to substantial interference with the reasonable enjoyment or lawful right, privilege or interest of the Landlord or another tenant, and wilful or negligent damage to the premises. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenant remained in the unit after the termination date.

The ruling

The Landlord proved that the Tenant or their guests wilfully or negligently damaged the boardroom table, which cost $3,059.47 to replace. The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $15,153.34, which includes the replacement cost, daily compensation for use of the unit, and the application filing fee, less the rent deposit and interest.
