What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring the Former Tenants to pay the rent and daily compensation that they owe. The Former Tenants vacated the rental unit on January 9, 2022 without paying the full rent for December 2021.

The ruling

The Former Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlord $724.53, which includes rent arrears up to the move-out date and the cost of filing the application, minus the rent deposit and interest on the deposit. If the Former Tenants do not pay the full amount by April 8, 2024, they will start to owe interest at 7% annually on the outstanding balance.
