What happened
Tenant applied for an order determining that the Landlords substantially interfered with the reasonable enjoyment of the rental unit or residential complex, withheld or interfered with vital services or care services and meals, and failed to meet the Landlords' maintenance obligations. The parties settled most issues, except for the Landlord's denial of access to the backyard and failure to provide internet service.
The ruling
The Landlords are ordered to provide the Tenant with access to the backyard and reimburse the Tenant $6,750 for the loss of backyard use and $1,791.96 for internet costs. The Tenant's rent will be reduced by 25% until the Landlords provide backyard access, and by the actual cost of the Tenant's internet service.
