What happened

The Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant for non-payment of rent. After a previous hearing and a granted review request, the matter was re-heard. The Tenant owed over $26,000 in arrears and requested an adjournment because his legal representative's license was suspended. The LTB denied the adjournment and the relief from eviction, citing the massive arrears and the Tenant's failure to comply with a previous interim order to pay rent.

The ruling

The LTB ordered the termination of the tenancy and the eviction of the Tenant unless the Tenant pays $26,804.00 by August 31, 2025, or $28,589.00 by September 7, 2025. If the Tenant does not pay to void the order, they must move out by September 7, 2025, and pay the Landlord $24,022.10 plus daily compensation of $58.68 until they vacate.
