What happened
The Landlord applied to evict the Tenants for non-payment of rent. The Tenants alleged the Landlord refused to accept rent payments, a claim the Board did not find credible based on the evidence, including an audio recording. The Tenant requested relief from eviction due to significant personal hardship, including the recent death of her husband. The Board granted a delay in the eviction until May 31, 2025, but denied a payment plan due to the Tenant's financial instability.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated unless the Tenant voids the order by paying the outstanding amount. The Tenant can pay $16,686.00 by April 30, 2025, or $18,686.00 by May 31, 2025, to continue the tenancy. If no payment is made, the Tenant must vacate by May 31, 2025, and owes the Landlord $14,686.00 plus daily compensation from April 1, 2025. The Board postponed the eviction to provide the Tenant time to find new housing due to personal hardship.
