What happened

The Landlords applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants for non-payment of rent. By the hearing date, rent had not been paid for over six months, resulting in substantial arrears. One Tenant attended, explaining his unemployment and a potential job with the RCMP, and requested to stay. The Board denied relief from eviction due to the significant debt and lack of a viable payment plan, but granted a conditional order.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated unless the Tenants pay the Landlords $16,386.00 by June 15, 2025. If they fail to pay, they must move out by that date, and the Landlords can file for eviction. If the tenancy is terminated, the Tenants must pay the Landlords $9,913.08, plus daily compensation of $85.48 from May 2, 2025, until they vacate. Relief from eviction was denied due to substantial arrears and lack of income.
