What happened
The Landlord applied for termination of the tenancy and eviction of the Tenants due to non-payment of rent. Although social assistance pays a portion of the rent directly to the Landlord, the Tenants failed to pay their remaining share consistently and in full. The Tenants did not attend the hearing.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective August 2, 2025. The Tenants can void the eviction by paying $386.00 by July 31, 2025, or $1,236.00 by August 2, 2025. If the tenancy is terminated, the Landlord is actually found to owe the Tenants $1,061.63 due to the application of the rent deposit and interest exceeding the small remaining arrears, subject to daily compensation adjustments.
