What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring the Tenant to pay the rent that the Tenant owes. The Tenant requested an adjournment to raise issues under section 82 of the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006, but the adjournment was denied. The Tenant had vacated the rental unit on February 15, 2023 as a result of a previous LTB order.

The ruling

The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $2,613.61, which includes rent arrears up to February 15, 2023 and the cost of the application, minus the rent deposit and interest owing. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by August 24, 2023, interest will start to accrue at 6.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
