What happened

The tenants brought a T5 application claiming the landlord gave them an N12 notice of termination in bad faith. The tenants vacated the rental unit as a result of the N12 notice, but the landlord's child did not move into the unit within a reasonable time after the tenants vacated.

The ruling

The landlord is ordered to pay the tenants $11,173, which includes $1,785 for one month's compensation, $3,735 for moving expenses, and $4,500 for general compensation due to the bad faith eviction.
